Google bolsters IoT offerings

Alphabet, the tech giant behind Google has launched its latest offering known as Android Things.

Android Things is a hybrid of its previous IoT platform Brillo combined with Android Studio, Android SDK, Google Cloud Platform and Google Play. Android Things will allow its users to build connected devices whilst using Android API's and Google's cloud based services.

Google has also focused its efforts on further developing its IoT communications platform Weave, which is already responsible for facilitating Philips Hue and Samsung SmartThings.

Although there are a variety of players in the IoT communications and development arena, Google has bolstered its arsenal in an attempt to lead the pack.

Android Things is currently in Developer Preview and you can get a sneak preview by clicking here.
